Engaging Traditionally Marginalized Communities in University Partnerships
Collaborating groups: TBA
Faculty contact: TBA
The Engaging Traditionally Marginalized Communities in University Partnerships project will help Lewis & Clark develop a model for extensive and sustainable community engagement and collaboration with traditionally marginalized communities, which includes reaching out to African American communities and Muslim immigrant and refugee communities in the Portland area, that can be replicated by others through the Center for Community Engagement and at other universities. By taking a meta-perspective in which we record and reflect on efforts and outcomes, we will be able to develop a systemic model for collaboration between universities and traditionally marginalized groups. Engaging two significantly different communities simultaneously will allow us to begin ferreting out what is transferable across communities and what must be tailored to specific communities.
