About OWP at Lewis & Clark

For over 25 years, OWP has been a vital resource for teachers across content areas who recognize the value of using writing as a means of thinking, exploring, and increasing academic achievement with students. The Invitational Summer Institute, OWP's centerpiece offering, provides teachers with time and space to write while examining how to prepare students to:

  • Write in all subjects with clarity and style;
  • Seek deeper and more critical understanding of writing and the world;
  • Wake up their own voice and authority;
  • Take command of their own learning;
  • Manage portfolios and other exhibition forms.

The OWP also has been a model of professional development, teacher leadership and school reform. Using the links below, you can explore numerous flexible programs, including district-wide inservices, available for students, teachers, and administrators.
